After a prolonged wandering through the hills and stairways of Valpara\u00edso, I connected with a particular way of seeing. Relationships began to emerge, along with hidden corners and more open spaces.<\/p>

Time passed before I was able to link what I was seeing in Valpara\u00edso\u2019s spaces to the relationship of its inhabitants with themselves, with others, and with their surroundings.<\/p>

A movement of attention toward myself then emerged\u2014toward my interior, toward intimacy.<\/p>

I feel this is the result of the force of the faded, washed-out color present in the images.<\/p>

It is the powerful call that this city, Valpara\u00edso, exerts on me. It draws me away from immediacy and superficiality.<\/p>

Cultivating intimacy unfolds in a different time.<\/p>
